Ranges

There are a few ranges in and around Edmonton, AB.  Here are the ones that I know about.

Genessee

About

The Genesse Range is owned by the Canadian Historical Arms Society  (CHAS) and Leduc Fish & Game Association.  It's a pretty good range.  Currently it goes up to 700m, with plans to take it to 1000m in the near future.  Memberships are $70.00 / year, available from CHAS.

Directions

  1. Go west from Edmonton on highway 16.
  2. Turn south on Mink Lake Road. Stay on this road until you cross the river (North Saskatchewan).
  3. After the bridge you will be climbing a hill, about 3/4s of the way to the top of it, there is an exit to the right, turn there.
  4. Then take the first left.
  5. Follow that gravel road until it turns to the right.
  6. Just after that there is another intersection, turn left.
  7. Go straight. Come to a stop sign, go straight there too.
  8. The road will turn right, go down a hill to the left, then right again, and at the botton genesee range will be on your right hand side.

Wildwood

About

Wildwood is a nice quiet range about 90 minutes west of Edmonton.  Memberships there cost $30/year.  At this time I don't have any contact infomration if you want a membership.

Directions

  1. From Edmonton, travel west on Highway 16 (the Yellowhead) towards Evansburg. Once you pass Evansburg, you're within 10 or 15 minutes of the turnoff to the range.
  2. The turnoff to the range is about 2km east of Wildwood, on the north side of the highway.  If you drive through the town of Wildwood, you've gone to far.
  3. The range is approximately 3km north of highway 16. There is a sign at the turnoff.
  4. Go approx. 3km north, 'till you see a sign telling you to turn right (east).
  5. Go approx. 1/2km east. The range is on the north side of the road.
